한국은 셀폰(손전화)의 기술이 세계를 선도하는 나라이며, 손전화의 자판을 활용하여 가장 빠른 속도로 개인 정보를 교류할 수 있는 나라가 되었다. 손전화의 한글 자판은 한글의 자으모가 모음의 가획(加劃)원리에 기초한 것이다. 세종 대왕께서 직접 지도하여 완성된 한글의 덕을 현대의 한국인과 세계인이 보고 있는 셈이다. 또한 한글은 단순한 의사소통의 방식으로만 이용되는 것이 아니라 문화 산업 부문과 연계될 수 있는 가능성이 충분하게 입증되었다. 이제 한글이 명실상부한 국가 발전의 동력이 되고 있다. 이 밖에도 도예, 전각, 목각/서각, 조형물, 서양화, 문인화, 서예, 무용 등 예술 분야에서도 한글이 독특한 소재로 사용되고 있으며 글꼴 디자인, 정관 조성, 붓글씨에서도 한글의 자형을 활용하고 있다.

한글은 산업화 분야에서도 활발히 응용되고 있는데, 북디자인, 상표, 의상, 넥타이 등 생활 용품 및 정보기기, 한글 간판에서 한글의 활용이 눈부시다. 그뿐만 아니라 국외에서도 한글을 활용하는 사례가 많다. 유네스코 건물 현관에 한글 표기 디자인 작품이 전시되었고, 영국 빅토리아 박물관 입구에 한글 조형물(용비어천가 목각)이 전시되어 있다.

Korea is a world-leader in cell phone technology, while the speed with which users can exchange text messages, via cell phone keypads, is unquestionably the fastest in the world. Like Hangul, Korean cell phone keypads are based on a principle of adding strokes to basic consonants and vowels, which means that a minimal number of keys are needed to create the entire alphabet.

Hangul is more than a means of basic communication, with increasingly diverse applications in the areas of culture and the arts, signaling its potential launching pad for the national growth engine. Sighting of Hangul is rapidly growing abroad, including such examples as a Hangul art work displayed at the entrance of UNESCO Headquarters and a Hangul sculpture displayed at the entrance to the Victoria and Albert Museum in the U.K. (Hunmin jeongeum, The National Institute of the Korean Language, 2008, pp. 8, 14.)
